The @href attribute is used within the ft:node element to declare the location of the topic. It must be written as the path and filename of the HTML or Markdown file containing the topic. The @href element is optional.

When no @href attribute is provided for the ft:node element, the @ft:title AND @ft:originID attributes are mandatory.
