When using the othermeta tag in DITA, Fluid Topics generates a facet whose ID is the name of the metadata element as set in the @name attribute.

For example, Fluid Topics processes the following topic:

<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
<!DOCTYPE topic PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DITA Topic//EN"
"http://docs.oasis-open.org/dita/v1.1/OS/dtd/topic.dtd">
<topic id="topic-metadata-example">
<title>Example of a topic</title>
<prolog>
<metadata>
<othermeta content="cannot fit anywhere else" name="another_meta"/>
<othermeta content="but not the least" name="a_last_meta"/>
</metadata>
</prolog>
<body>
<p>Indexed content of the topic</p>
</body>
</topic>

After processing the topic, Fluid Topics generates two facets:

  • The another_meta facet contains cannot fit anywhere else.
  • The a_last_meta facet contains but not the least.
