When metadata is indexed, users can enter a metadata value in the search box on the Homepage or Search page in order to search for matching content. This can be useful if a metadata key has a very large number of values.
A company has one hundred product references which are not part of the content but only specified as metadata. If metadata is not indexed, users must select a product reference from a list of one hundred values. When metadata is indexed, users can type the name of the product reference in the search box.
