Fluid Topics proposes a way to authenticate on-the-fly by entering user credentials when sending a request. It is based on Basic Access Authentication.

Before Fluid Topics v3.4.12, authentication did not rely on the same HTTP header. Fluid Topics systematically used a prefixed version of the header: FT-Authorization. Beginning with Fluid Topics v3.4.12, both prefixed and unprefixed headers work.

Authentication must be encoded in base 64.

The following header can be used to authenticate as Aladdin / open sesame.

Authorization: Basic QWxhZGRpbjpvcGVuIHNlc2FtZQ==

Both the user's email address and password must be encoded, as in the following example using the command line:

echo -n '<email@address.com>:<password>' | base64
