There are two ways to add an image or other media file to a personal topic:

  • From the web.
  • From the user's disk.

Add an image from the web

It is possible to add an image from the web as follows:

  1. Open the image file in a web browser.
  2. Right-click the image and select "copy image address" from the context menu.
  3. In the Write a personal topic drawer, select "Insert/edit image" as follows:

Button to open the Insert/edit media window

  4. The Insert/edit image window opens. In the Source field, paste the image's URL.
  5. Select OK.

When the editor successfully recognizes the image's URL, it automatically proposes dimensions that can be modified if desired.

Add a image from a disk

It is possible to add an image from a disk as follows:

  1. Prepare an archive with the image file.
  2. Send the archive to the Fluid Topics Customer Success team via the Fluid Topics Help Desk and ask them to push the image to the tenant's server.
  3. In the Write a personal topic drawer, select "Insert/edit image" to open the Insert/edit image window (see the screenshot in the "Add an image from the web" section).
  4. In the Source field, enter the relative path to the image.

It is necessary to write the relative path to the image as in the following example:

/public/image_filename.png

- The first forward slash in the relative path is mandatory.

- Underscores and hyphens are accepted, but spaces are not.

- It is recommended to organize images by type in subdirectories. For example, a PNG image stored in the subdirectory icons would have the relative path /public/icons/image_fileName.png.

Other image formats (e.g., .gif, .jpg, etc.) are accepted.

Add a video from the web

It is possible to add a video from the web to a personal topic as follows:

  1. Open the video file in a web browser.
  2. Right-click the video and select "copy video URL" from the context menu.
  3. In the Write a personal topic drawer, select "Insert/edit media" as follows:

Button to insert a media file to a Personal topic

  4. The Insert/edit media window opens. By default, the General tab is selected. In the Source field, paste the image's URL.
  5. Select OK.

When the editor successfully recognizes the video's URL, it automatically proposes dimensions that can be modified if desired.

Alternatively, it is possible to select "copy embed code" from the context menu and paste the code in the Embed tab of the Insert/edit media window.
