A search service is designed to search for information in a specific corpus, or data set in order to provide fast and accurate results.
A search service is built by choosing, assembling, and configuring one or more agents from a wide range of ready-to-use modules. Each agent that is deployed is in charge of a specific data source (websites, file servers, archives, databases, XML streams, digital catalogs, and so on) called a feed.
This agent-based technology allows optimal processing of each data source by taking into account its constraints (access, security, format, structure, content). Agents use reply indexes produced by the Pipes and Filters (PaF) module.
