afs:sessionId Parameter - AFS

AFS Integration Guide

Reference Guide

In some cases the use of a cookie-based mechanism can prove to be inadequate, too complex, or incompatible with chosen security policy. The session identifier, or sessionId, can be retrieved from the result feed at reply time, and can be propagated in subsequent queries to AFS with the afs:sessionId parameter described in section afs:sessionId.

Requests without session identifiers put an heavy strain on the afs_stats daemon.

Best practices recommend that every request be assigned with a session identifier, e.g. afs:sessionId=${service_number} or any value that makes sense. The value for this parameter can be chosen at will by the user.
