To detach a previously attached content from a DITA map:

  1. Remove the topicref corresponding to the map attachment to detach in the DITA map.
  2. Reupload the updated DITA project archive in Fluid Topics.

The attachment is not deleted in case it would be attached to another document in the portal. It is only detached from the document. All its related information (originId, khubId, displayName, and so on) are stored for any further use.

Example

In this scenario, the following DITA map file was used to publish a map with a PDF document and a video as attachments:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE map PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DITA Map//EN" "http://docs.oasis-open.org/dita/v1.1/OS/dtd/map.dtd">
<map title="Pufferfish">
<title>Pufferfish</title>
<topicref href="pufferfish-definition.dita"/>
<topicref href="pufferfish-natural-defenses.dita"/>
<topicref navtitle="Pufferfish Story" href="Pufferfish-story.pdf" type="ft:attachment" processing-role="resource-only"/>
<topicref navtitle="Pufferfish Video" href="Pufferfish-video.mp4" type="ft:attachment" processing-role="resource-only"/>
</map>

The ZIP archive used to publish this map and its attachments contained the following elements:

pufferfish.ditamap
|_ pufferfish-definition.dita
|_ pufferfish-natural-defenses.dita
|_ Pufferfish-story.pdf
|_ Pufferfish-video.mp4

In Fluid Topics, two map attachments are available for the "Pufferfish" document.

Two documents are attached to the map

To detach the "Pufferfish Story" PDF which is currently attached to the map:

  1. Remove the topicref corresponding to the PDF attachment in the DITA map:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE map PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DITA Map//EN" "http://docs.oasis-open.org/dita/v1.1/OS/dtd/map.dtd">
    <map title="Pufferfish">
    <title>Pufferfish</title>
    <topicref href="pufferfish-definition.dita"/>
    <topicref href="pufferfish-natural-defenses.dita"/>
    <topicref navtitle="Pufferfish Video" href="Pufferfish-video.mp4" type="ft:attachment" processing-role="resource-only"/>
    </map>

    Only the video reference is kept in the DITA map.

  2. Upload a new ZIP archive of the project with the updated DITA map and without the PDF file:

    pufferfish.ditamap
    |_ pufferfish-definition.dita
    |_ pufferfish-natural-defenses.dita
    |_ Pufferfish-video.mp4

    Once published again into Fluid Topics, the "Pufferfish" document has one video map attachment. The PDF was detached.

    One video file is attached to the document
