Denied Access to the AFS Services on Red Hat - AFS

AFS Installation and Administration Guide

Reference Guide

On Red Hat, the AFS services may not be accessed. It may be due to the system SELinux (Security Enhanced Linux) configuration. When the Red Hat SELinux is active, communication between binaries is frozen.

As AFS binaries cannot communicate, web browsers fail to connect to the search engine. To troubleshoot this Red Hat behavior, it is necessary to set the security configuration for the AFS services.

To troubleshoot the RedHat SELinux security freeze on AFS services

  1. Contact your Red Hat system administrator to set the SELinux configuration properly and grant communication rights for the AFS services.
  2. Although it is not recommended, the system super user may deactivate the whole SELinux function with the command line:
    echo 0 > /selinux/enforce
